This article will demonstrate the Table Wizard tools, including Table Header, Cell, Row, Column, Table Style, Cell Background, Vertical Align, Horizontal Align, and Cell Style, which encompass all of the options that are available to you if you want to add/modify a table in a text field.
The Table Wizard also has options to Remove Table and add Breaks.
Table Wizard Tools
Table Header
- Table Header: Inserts a gray Header cell above each column
Cell
- Merge Cells: Merges all selected cells into a single cell
- Vertical Split: Splits cells vertically into two columns
- Horizontal Split: Splits cells horizontally into two rows
Row
- Insert Row Above: Inserts a new row above the selected row
- Note: You can also insert a row above by clicking outside of the table, hovering your mouse over the top-left corner of a first-column cell, and clicking the Insert button (plus icon) that appears.
- Insert Row Below: Inserts a new row below the selected row
- Note: You can also insert a row below by clicking outside of the table, hovering your mouse over the bottom-left corner of a first-column cell, and clicking the Insert button (plus icon) that appears.
- Delete Row: Deletes selected row
Column
- Insert Column Before: Inserts a new column before (to the left of) the selected column
- Note: You can also insert a new column to the left by clicking outside of the table, hovering your mouse over the top-left corner of an existing column, and clicking the Insert button (plus icon) that appears.
- Insert Column After: Inserts a new column after (to the right of) the selected column
- Note: You can also insert a new column to the right by clicking outside of the table, hovering your mouse over the top-right corner of an existing column, and clicking the Insert button (plus icon) that appears.
- Delete Column: Deletes selected column
Table Style
- Dashed Borders: Changes solid borders around all cells to dashed borders around all cells
- Alternate Rows: Changes the background color of alternating rows to gray
- Note: To undo the selected style, go to Table Style and click the selected style again.
- Border all Cells: Place a border around every cell
- Border Table: Add a border around the table
Cell Background
- Cell Background: Change the background color of selected cells by choosing a color from the color picker or typing a HEX color and clicking OK
- Note: To reset the Background to white, click the Clear Formatting button (trash can icon).
Vertical Align
- Top: Aligns the text with the Top of selected cells
- Middle: Aligns the text in the Middle of selected cells
- Bottom: Aligns the text at the Bottom of selected cells
Horizontal Align
- Align Left: Aligns the text on the Left of selected cells
- Align Center: Aligns the text in the Middle of selected cells
- Align Right: Aligns the text on the Right of selected cells
- Align Justify: Justifies the text as flush with margins
Cell Style
- Highlighted: Places a red Highlight around selected cells
- Thick: Increases border thickness around selected cells
- Note: To undo the selected style, go to Cell Style and click selected style again.
Break
- Break: Creates a paragraph break before or after your table
- Note: The Break button (return arrow icon) appears after clicking in front of or behind the table, and hovering the mouse over the top or bottom table border.
Remove Table
- Remove Table: Delete the table from your Text Field
- Note: Press Ctrl + Z to undo your last action.
